Our History

Vaughan Industries was begun in 1974 to distribute detergents and spray waxes for automatic car washes in the Detroit, Michigan area. Founded by an industrial chemist with twenty years of experience, the company began developing and manufacturing a totally new line of use-specific car wash chemical products.

In 1977, Vaughan Chemical became a Michigan corporation and purchased its manufacturing facility in Detroit. The company's name was changed to Vaughan Industries in 1984 in order to more accurately reflect its expansion into sales and service of car wash equipment.

Vaughan is unique in its approach to application problems in the car wash industry. Experience showed that how a washing solution is applied is as critical as the quality of product being used. As a result, the company engineered a complete line of chemical applicators as well as the car wash products to meet any requirement.

Vaughan continues as a privately held family business. As such, it epitomizes the American experience of successful entrepreneurship. Today Vaughan Industries has clients all over the world and several divisions encompassing cleaning compounds, industrial fluids, sprockets, bearings, chain, car was equipment, car wash chemicals, and auto detail products.

Vaughan is known for being the go to supplier of rollers, sprockets, and chain. Vaughan’s patented process for making rollers provides for tighter tolerances and extended life. Vaughan is currently a top supplier of high pressure equipment, pump stations, prep stations, stainless steel arches, wheel applicators, and car wash chemicals.

Ongoing research and development in one of the most modern chemical laboratories in the industry assures "state of the art" products and applications. Through continued innovation in equipment design and manufacturing, Vaughan is dedicated to meeting the needs of the car wash industry in the 21st Century.

We do not custom blend chemicals for individual customers, however we do custom blend and white label chemicals for businesses wishing to make large purchases of chemical for B2B or B2C resale. Please inquire about your specific needs and let us know your anticipated volume.

How do local chemical deliveries work?

Once the order is ready to ship, it will be scheduled for delivery in one of our vehicles. Delivery dates vary by area and you will be called the morning of delivery to let you know it's on the truck. We can't guarantee a specific delivery date, but we do our best to accommodate requests. We do not offer same day delivery, but you can pick up chemical from our Detroit warehouse if you have an urgent need. To pick up chemical, call in advance and place your order. We can generally have chemical ready for pick up within a few hours.

If I place a order for rollers and chain, what else do I need?

You will also need to order link pins and cotter keys with your roller and chain order. We also suggest you order slightly more chain than you need, so you have spare maintenance parts on hand.

How do I turn a quote into an order?

Once you accept the quote, you will notify us and make a 50% down payment to start the work. Once we receive your 50% down payment, your quote is turned into an order and the work will start. Please note, we will not start any work or order any products until we have the down payment applied to your order. There are no exceptions to the down payment requirement for custom or large orders.
